Each spring is totally independent of any surrounding coil and housed in its own cloth sleeve, resulting in piston-like support to each part of the body. An added feature is its side-stitched mattress borders - a labour intensive and intricate technique that take craftsmen many years to master. Using high-tension twine and a long upholstery needle, the side-stitching process attaches the mattress border to the perimeter rows of springs.
