The J41 (without armrests) and J42 (with armrests) chairs, both Danish classics, were designed in 1933 by Børge Mogensen when he was design director of the FDB. This Danish consumers' cooperative was established in 1933 with the aim of offering the public designer furniture at an affordable price. FDV revolutionised industrial design and was responsible for many iconic Danish designs. Børge Mogensen retained the main features of the traditional Windsor chair: including the use of wooden and the back created from fine spindles. This gives the great classic cleaner, more modern lines of Scandinavian inspiration. The assembly of spindles provides a balanced and wonderfully graceful openwork structure.
