Semi was designed in 1968 as a product of the creative partnership between Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup. Bonderup and Thorup both wanted to manufacture a lamp that offered clean, sharp lines and a geometric shape. Their design was entered into a competition at the Royal Danish Academy of Architecture, where it won first prize.
