Northern Dokka pendant light matt white; Dokka pendant light – a true classic in Norwegian design history The Dokka pendant light is made of sturdy, durable steel and features rich, natural tones that create a harmonious balance. Decorative details have been deliberately omitted so as not to distract from the essentials. The light stands out thanks to its clear, curved shapes and proportions. It is the well-thought-out details in particular that set this light apart. The two-tone, funnel-shaped steel shade creates a very special lighting effect. The light is directed straight downwards and covers an ever-increasing angle thanks to the funnel shape. The white colour of the lampshade's interior makes the light appear even brighter. Dokka's matt exterior and the small brass ring that appears to tie the lampshade together are valuable and elegant details that make the pendant light even more appealing. The Dokka pendant light was designed in 1954 by pioneer and Norwegian lighting designer Birger Dahl and was the first light from Norway to be awarded the Gold Medal at the prestigious Triennale di Milano. The light is known for its smooth contours and precise proportions. Dokka became one of the best-selling pendant lights ever made in Norway, then disappeared when the previous manufacturer discontinued its lighting range. In 2007, Northern relaunched Dokka, placing particular emphasis on preserving the features that made it a classic. The Norwegian brand Northern was founded in 2005 by Ove Rogne, whose designs are also part of the company's extensive portfolio, and three other friends in the Norwegian capital Oslo. They attach great importance to preserving Scandinavian design traditions and interpreting them in a modern way. color: matt white material: steel, brass
