FRITZ HANSEN Orient P2 pendant lamp, copper/rose, Ø 34 cm; Gorgeous Orient™ hanging light - Design: Jo Hammerborg The Orient™ hanging light is characterised by its fine craftsmanship. Its lampshade is made of warm, shiny copper, and its organic shape is individually hand-turned in a wooden mould. The suspension system is adorned with a decorative detail made of rosewood. The light was first launched in 1963 and was reissued in 2013 through a collaboration between the family of Jo Hammerborg (1920-1982) and the Danish company FRITZ HANSEN. Until now, Jo Hammerborg's designs were only available as antiques, but with the Orient™ pendant light, which fits perfectly with 21st-century trends, Jo Hammerborg's work is now accessible to a wider range of buyers. Jo Hammerborg was originally a silversmith and then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. In 1957, he became head of design at Fog&Mørup, a position he held until 1980 and during which he created 180 lights with a keen sense of form, function and aesthetics, some of which won awards.
