Due to strict government regulations, mattresses used in the above must adhere to BS7177 ignition fire regularity standards that go further than those required for domestic use. Its open coil interior consists of rows of hour-glass shaped springs, connected into one single unit at the top and bottom by spiral wires, known as a helical wires. A thick rod-edge wire is attached to the perimeter rows of springs, offering additional strength to the mattress and prevents border breakdown on edges that are regularly sat on.
